If you’re a countertop fabricator and you haven’t checked out RemnantSwap, you’re missing out on one of the most useful free tools in our industry.
We built that website with a very explicit goal – to connect countertop fabricators who were either trying to buy or sell granite (and quartz, and solid-surface) remnants. It’s really neat that we’ve been able to give this to the industry, and we’re in a unique position to be able to do it for free and get lots of fabricators to participate.
Which granite colors are hot?
A cool side-benefit of running RemnantSwap is that we get some insight into which materials are hot, at least in terms of remnants. You can see a “word cloud” on the RemnantSwap site – names of colors and countertop materials that are more popular are bigger and bolder.
Granite is by far the most popular countertop material on RemnantSwap, but other popular materials are Zodiaq, Silestone, Sensa, Cambria, and Marble.
The top ten colors on RemnantSwap right now are New Venetian Gold, Santa Cecilia, Uba Tuba, Cream, Bordeaux, Verde, Giallo Ornamental, Tan Brown, Black Pearl, and Caledonia.
Some of those names mean different things to different people, and some of them represent an entire category of colors. For example, Bordeaux might mean Typhoon Bordeaux or Siena Bordeaux, etc. But it’s still pretty interesting to get a feel for what granite colors are floating around out there.
How to participate?
If you’re looking for remnants, all you need to do is go to the site, and search for a color. We’ll show you the results, sorted by how close they are to you. A few cities have a ton of remnants, others are a bit more sparse.
Once you find the slabs you want, you’ll see another fabricator’s contact information right there on RemnantSwap. We’re not the middleman… we’re trying to get more fabricators to talk to each other directly!
If you’ve got remnants you want to post, you’ll need to create a free account. Then, you can add your remnants. If you’ve only got a couple, you can just add them one-at-a-time. Or, if you’ve got lots, you can import them from a spreadsheet or software like Moraware JobTracker Inventory Edition.
Every week, a couple more fabricators register for accounts on RemnantSwap, so the network keeps growing. If we can help fabricators, even a little bit, then we’re doing our jobs.
Want to know more? At Moraware, we make software for countertop fabricators. CounterGo is countertop drawing, layout, and estimating software. JobTracker is scheduling software that helps you eliminate the time you waste looking for job folders. RemnantSwap is a free place to buy and sell granite remnants with fabricators near you. We also sponsor StoneTalk, the podcast for countertop fabricators.
